Gallery Nucleus: Jim Henson Tribute

With the new Muppets movie out and the fact that it’s gotten great reviews (97% on Rotten Tomatoes), it seems like the Muppets are back in action and maybe even popular again. I have always loved the Muppets – suuuure, you say… but no, really! I grew up on Muppet Babies and fell in love with “The Rainbow Connection” the first time I heard it. It still remains one of my favorite songs ever. And although the Muppets 3D attraction at Disneyland is always empty, I still go see it at least once a year to experience the two old guys who crack jokes while bubbles fall down on the seats.

Today I received this note from Gallery Nucleus about a Jim Henson tribute and fell in love with this piece.  I especially have a re-awakened appreciation for Jim Henson since I recently re-watched Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, some of the most imaginative films that I have ever seen even for today’s times. Jim revolutionized modern puppeteering and sadly lived such a short life. Seeing this exhibit will be bitter sweet, but I’m looking forward to it.
