The DIY Star Wars Skirt

Vintage Star Wars Bed Sheet Skirt DIYFor years now, I have always wanted to make something out of vintage Star Wars bed sheets and I finally got around to doing it. I was actually even more inspired after seeing Jennifer Landa’s amazingly cute Death Star dress last year so I took some extra time this year to make a cute and casual outfit for non-cosplay days at San Diego Comic Con. I wanted to keep things simple since I already had my hands full with my Han Solo cosplay.

I initially wanted to make a dress, but for the sake of time, decided to make a basic elastic pleated skirt, sort of modeled after my Marc Jacobs Flavin skirt. It only took about 3 hours to make and would have probably taken less if I wasn’t so error prone. Note to self to watch tutorials first before starting! I always seem to go by the plan in my head instead of doing more research first. I ended up watching this video tutorial since I was having some trouble with constructing the elastic waistband. Unfortunately after all that work, I ended up not even wearing this at the con, but I’m definitely keeping it around for a rainy day!
