Book Review: The Great Showdowns by Scott C

Great Showdowns Scott C Cover ArtI knew that there was something special about Scott Campbell’s art the minute I saw it. I think some of the first pieces I remember seeing were the LOST showdowns and the collection of Spider-Man doing weird stuff. Fun, cute, nostalgia, maybe even kiddish are the words I would use to describe his style. So when the folks at Titan Books asked if I would like a copy of his latest book, The Great Showdowns, I said “HELLZ YES!”, did a happy dance, and waited patiently for my copy.

I read it cover to cover the minute I got it and was entertained the whole way starting with NPH’s introduction. As a frequent movie watcher myself, going through this book was like taking a trip down memory lane since each movie reminded me of when I saw it, how I felt, and what I liked so much about that movie.  There are so many movies covered in this book that I was definitely stumped (and still am) on a few of them. However, there were tons that I recognized and love how Scott C really captured some of the characters. Here are some of my favorite pieces from the book:

Scott C The Great Showdowns Book - Neverending Story, Big trouble Little China, Princess Bride, ETScott C The Great Showdowns Book - Han Solo Greedo, Army of Darkness, knights of ni, aliensScott C The Great Showdowns Book - Jay Silent Bob, Stand By Me, Scott Pilgrim, Misery
