Stan Lee Comic Con 2016

Punk Mohawk Storm CosplayHappy November! I just got back from Stan Lee Comic Con (aka Los Angeles Comic Con aka Comikaze) and I’m sad to admit that this may be the end of my cosplay season for the year! My next big con will probably be Wondercon 2017 so until then, I’ll probably be working on my Etsy store orders, organizing my cosplay/craft area and going down the list of sewing projects that I’ve racked up over the years. I have a few fun projects up my sleeve so hopefully those will keep me busy over the next few months. As for Comikaze, I had such a great time this weekend, hung out with some great con friends and of course had a great time cosplaying. I actually flew down Friday morning, assuming this was a typical con that was open a few hours on Friday afternoon. However, I soon found out that the floor actually didn’t open until 5pm, which was not so terrible news as that freed up my entire afternoon and finally gave me the chance to walk around the fabric district in downtown LA and hunt for some much needed material (yay for no shipping!).

I spent Saturday cosplaying as Hope Summers, a character that always looked super cool to me, but I knew very little about. I recently read through a lot of the story leading up to the Messiah War story arc (including House of M) and loved it so much that I finally decided it was about time to cosplay as her.

Hope Summers CosplayAs for Sunday, I knew I wanted to be the punk/mohawk version of Storm long ago when I got this hair cut (hey, gotta take advantage right?) and it was just a matter of making some spiky leather accessories, getting the right gel, and of course the white contacts.

Thanks to everyone who made this such a fun weekend – con friends old and new, strangers who followed my cancer journey on this blog, or even people who just stopped by to take a selfie. I truly appreciated every moment of it. <3 On to the photos!
