It’s not even Thanksgiving yet, but Black Friday deals have already started! While I love a good deal, I’m also trying the Marie Kondo idea where I only buy stuff I absolutely love. At the same time, I’m also trying not to feel guilty for all the stuff I already bought! Serious first world problems, I know. :) So with that, on to this year’s Black Friday deals! Try to contain yourself!
If you asked me who my idol was when I was 6 years old, the answer would have enthusiastically been “Mickey Mouse!!”. Back then, I easily obsessed over Mickey Mouse and the golden age of cartoons like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Pocahontas, and so on. It was definitely an amazing time to be a Disney fan and as an adult, I never thought I might become an even bigger fan of everything Disney. Disney has really grown the past couple of years, especially with the acquisition of Star Wars, and it’s no surprise that they’ve even collaborated with big brands like Uniqlo for a line of cool Disney gear. I absolutely love this shirt I’m wearing (bonus points because there’s an angry Mickey) and thought it was especially fitting today since it’s Mickey’s 88th birthday! Happy Birthday, Mickey, and thanks for bringing so much joy into my life!
Ever since I went pastel, I’ve found myself being a lot more conscious of the colors I’m wearing. Suddenly I’m not sure if I should be wearing red plaid shirts or a mustard yellow sweater! On the flip side, when I had red hair, I found myself never wearing pastel colors and wearing tons of black. And now it seems like I’m back to wearing light spring colors as well as lots of blacks and whites. It may be way past the season for wearing springtime pastels, but it looks like it’s going to be a colorful winter! I swear I wasn’t trying to match my hair today, but I’m loving this light purple/grey pleated skirt from Uniqlo (and it’s at a great price!) Also, I’m especially loving Uniqlo these days because of their awesome Disney line. I totally went crazy stocking up on their Disney tees so if you’re a Disney fan, be prepared!
It’s crazy to think that exactly one year ago, my world was turned upside-down when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s still hard to even type that out today – in fact, sometimes it seems like a lifetime ago that I was dealing with all that stress. I was in total disbelief, felt so overwhelmed, and had no idea how I was going to take this on. Well, as you can see, I made it out A-OK and learned a lot about myself – one of the biggest things being that I am much stronger than I realize. I think that’s one thing that a lot of survivors will tell you – that this disease F’ing sucks and going through it is no piece of cake, but in the end, you come out so much mentally stronger than you were before.
It’s back to school season and even though I am long beyond ever going back to school, today I felt like a kid again in my Disney tee, jeans, and sneakers. I don’t often wear Mickey stuff outside of Disneyland, but I loved the design on this one so much that I made an exception. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always felt that a lot of the women’s apparel at the Disney parks could use a bit of a makeover – in fact, even for this tee, I decided to remove the polka dot pocket because I thought it was a little too much. No matter how much I love being there, I’ve always felt that much of their women’s clothing could use a bit of sprucing up for the contemporary Disney fan girl. What do you think?
Every year I get asked what I want to do for my birthday and every year, I completely dread that day. I hate the attention, the pressure of having a “great day” and I have never enjoyed being sung to. Usually I go into hiding around this time and thank goodness for Memorial Day because my birthday usually falls over that 3 day period, but this year I decided to really get away from things by spending my bday at Disneyland! With all I have to celebrate, I was feeling incredible grateful to be present, healthy, and I couldn’t wait to just go there and do whatever, eat whatever, and have a good time.
No matter how many cons I have been to, I still never get tired of roaming the exhibit floor and checking out new booths. Wondercon had some great independent booths and as a huge Disney nerd, I was immediately drawn to Whosits and Whatsits. Yes, they have an awesome store name and yes, they have amazingly cute Disney inspired shirts! Robin Hood was actually one of my favorite Disney cartoons growing up and I have to admit I had a tiny crush on him too (can you have a crush on a fox?). I love the cleverness of this tee, especially the reference to the “oo-de-lally” song, which will now be stuck in my head all day. So if you’re a fan of this type of stuff like I am, be sure to keep an eye on their store as I’m sure they’ll be coming out with even more cool stuff in the future!
