Well, I survived the FOMO of Star Wars Celebration. Last week was definitely a struggle not getting to be there, but thank goodness for friends who kept me up to date and lots of streaming! Who else found themselves in tears watching The Last Jedi trailer?? Honestly, I think at this point, every Star Wars trailer is going to make me cry. Haha. I was so grateful that they decided to show the trailer on the stream (unlike Rogue One) and although I can’t say it gave me as many chills as The Force Awakens, I think everyone is wondering what it means. I’m not going to speculate too much as I still love the element of surprise, but I seriously can’t wait! Continue reading
Star Wars Celebration is officially underway and as always, I’m experiencing major FOMO not being there. Watching the 40th anniversary panel online this morning brought on so many emotions – I had major nostalgia watching the old footage from the original 1977 release, tears during the tribute to Carrie, and so much joy seeing people from various parts of the Star Wars universe on stage. Although I am sad not to be there, I’m also kind of glad to not have to deal with the crazy lines there too. :) Today is a good day for Star Wars fans, but tomorrow could be even crazier with the panel for The Last Jedi (ooh, typing that just gave me chills). Will The Last Jedi follow in the footsteps of other Star Wars movies that have been second in the trilogy? Will someone get their hand cut off? Will Luke return? Will the dark side win? So many questions and only one outfit to show my excitement!
Hello! You may have noticed that it’s been a little quiet on the blog front, but I’m back! Believe it or not, I’ve had this blog for almost 5 years and this past month is probably the first time in 5 years that I’ve really taken a break from writing! In fact, I’m sort of taking a break from a lot of things this year to focus on myself and my marriage. I just got back from Hawaii a couple of weeks ago after some much needed R&R and have a couple more fun trips planned this year. Because of that, I won’t be going to as many cons as I typically do (not that I go that much), but it’s starting to look like my next con might just be SDCC! So what does that all mean?
I hit a small bump in the road last week feeling down about myself, but I’m making my way back, slowly but surely. For me, sometimes it just takes a few pretty colors to make me feel better. I’ve been in a colorful mood all week and today is no exception. Covered in pastel sequins and beads, this bomber jacket makes me feel like one of those sassy New York ladies from the ’80s. And with the ’90s slip dresses coming back in style, these two things make a perfect combo – just like my Han Solo and Princess Leia shoes from Irregular Choice! What was that you said? You love my shoes? Well… I know.
There are plenty of quotes that any Star Wars fan can easily identify – “I love you” followed by “I know”, “Never tell me the odds” and “I have a bad feeling about this” just to name a few. However, when the initial Rogue One teaser trailer came out, there was definitely one quote that gave me the chills – when Jyn Erso confidently said, “I rebel”. We didn’t know much about her character at the time – was she really going to help the rebellion or would she turn to the dark side? Hopefully by now you’ve watched Rogue One and loved it as much as I did and maybe you noticed, but the quote “I rebel” (along with a few other scenes from the trailers) never made the final cut! Even if that’s the case, I still love that line and designer Jordan Dene has perfectly captured it on this “I Rebel” tank. Now you can feel as badass as Jyn whenever you wear it. Paired with my new Rogue One tote from Loungefly, I’m definitely ready to go rogue.
When I say it’s been a cold winter in the Bay Area, keep in mind that I’m referring to a “Californian winter”, meaning that there will still be the occasional T-shirt appearance and days without your winter coat. :) Ever since I bought these super flared bell bottoms and Han Solo blaster necklace, I’ve had visions of Han Solo collared ’70s shirts, high collar Lando capes, and my favorite – ringer tees. I can’t resist a great ringer tee, let alone a Star Wars one. I don’t know about you, but I found this one especially interesting with the mysterious droid holding what appears to be Luke while Vader triumphantly stands over them. The droid kind of looks like the conceptual Ralph McQuarrie version of C-3PO, but I’m not exactly sure. Maybe this was a vintage comic book cover from an alternate universe? If anyone happens to have an idea, please let me know! Till then, enjoy this groovy outfit!
Following my post from the other day, I wanted to take advantage of the week leading up to Christmas to wear as many holiday themed outfits as possible! I can’t think of one Star Wars fan that doesn’t like R2-D2 (I mean, how can you like a character that doesn’t actually say anything and only beeps?), so what’s more festive than R2-D2 wearing reindeer antlers? To be honest, R2 is cute in everything, don’t you agree? Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas week in your favorite holiday attire!
