It’s just about time for my yearly trek down to SDCC, which also means another reason to head back to the happiest place on Earth – Disneyland! Everyone who’s been to Disneyland knows about the great rides, atmosphere, and just how awesome the park is. But for those of you unaware, there’s an even bigger subculture of DL that you should know about – the addictive hobby of pin trading. I got into pin trading about 2 years ago after seeing more and more traders around the park over the past few years. I already knew going in that I would probably get addicted due to my “collector’s mentality”, and it’s no surprise that I did. Pin trading is not only great for the casual trader, but also for the really hardcore ones (we’re talking about pins worth hundreds of dollars). Now I never head to the resort without my trusty pin bag(s) and thanks to my friend Jessica, now I have an even cooler one!
For someone who lives a 6 hour drive away from LA, I am pretty sure I frequent Disneyland more than the average person in the Bay Area. Estimating something like 2 times a year for the past 10+ years, I’d say I’ve been there quite a lot, almost to the point where I must go at least once a year. And for the first time in my life, I am an annual pass holder, which means Disneyland all year round!! Woo hoo! Some of you may wonder if one would just get sick of Disneyland after a while, but if you’ve been there enough, you’ll come to realize that there is a whole ‘nother dimension of Disneyland - Disneyana.
