Have you ever looked in the mirror and realized that you’re unintentionally cosplaying? Well, the other day I had one of those moments. I was wearing my favorite striped dress and decided I needed a light jacket to wear over it. Fall is all about layering so I put on an army shirt with a light hoodie underneath. I was halfway through my day when I suddenly realized who I resembled – Ramona Flowers. Granted, Ramona Flowers has SO many looks in not only the comic and the movie, but something about my outfit totally reminded me of her or even a version of a cosplay that I had seen before. Perhaps it was a combination of the blue hair, the military shirt over a hoodie, the stripes, or the stars on my bag, but I’m sure deep down I was ready to save the world.
With Stan Lee Comic Con just around the corner and me being in “cosplay mode“, it just dawned on me over the weekend how close Halloween is! Not that I need an excuse to wear black, but I was definitely in the mood to pull out some black lace, black boots, and black knee highs. But to be honest, the real reason I wore this outfit was really to go with my bat print nails!! I’ve been using Espionage Cosmetics nail wraps for a couple years now and they have really become my go-to brand for nail art, given that these are nail stickers and much less toxic than nail polish, last way longer, and are mistake-free. Of course they have tons of great nerdy prints to choose from, but the best thing about these particular bat print wraps are that they glow in the dark!! Yes, you heard that right. How cool is that?? Halloween may be around the corner, but I know for a fact that I’ll be wearing these all year round!
Nope, that’s not some funky photo editing or weird contrast going on with your screen. I do in fact have light purple hair. :D Ever since I finished chemo, I’ve been waiting for what feels like ages to dye my hair. There’s some weird rule about not dying your hair too soon after chemo so I waited and waited… Mostly for the texture to normalize also to grow it to a decent length before taking the pastel plunge. I don’t think people realize how slow hair really grows (1/2 inch per month if you’re a “fast” grower). In fact, it really used to bug me when people would say things like, “It will grow back!” when I was dealing with chemo hair loss. Even going from no hair to chin length hair will probably take over a year, which is a long time to wait! My hair seems to be growing at an average rate and what you’re looking at is 8 months of growth plus 2 days worth of bleaching. It’s interesting because I would probably never have bleached my whole head if I had the hair I had before (way too much maintenance), but I’m pretty excited that I can finally take advantage of my short hair to have some fun with it! So… any color suggestions??
