When it comes to casual Fridays and “ready for the weekend” outfits, the chambray shirt is one of my go-to pieces. It’s effortless, chic, and as you can tell by many of my posts, it’s quite versatile! And recently, I’ve acquired another essential addition to my wardrobe – Tom’s crochet wedges. Just like their popular basic slip-on, they are equality comfortable and stylish. These are definitely my go-to wedge for summer (or what’s left of it!). Anyhow, have a great weekend and thanks for reading!
One thing always try to take advantage of on the weekends is being able to wear shorts. Being indoors in AC all day at work or making sure you are “work appropriate” can definitely affect your outfit. That’s why I love the freedom of wearing anything on the weekend, especially something like this one shoulder Alice + Olivia blouse or a pair of short shorts. I’m also wearing one of my favorite pair of shoes – a pair of Chie Mihara heels that I actually ended up wearing on my wedding day due to some unforeseen details with heels sinking in the grass (sadly I barely wore my Jimmy Choos). Regardless, they were practically meant for that day anyways due to the subtle heart design on the front.
So you’re going to a comic convention and don’t have a cosplay. What’s a girl to do? Grab your [insert comic, game, movie theme here] shirt, throw on some shorts, long socks, and a pair of converses and you have an outfit. That’s exactly what I did. This weekend was the Big Wow Comic Fest and I found myself with no time to make a cosplay. And instead of throwing on my typical Star Wars shirt, i decided to mix it up!
I saw this beautiful tulle skirt on modcloth and had to check it out. It’s so convenient that they finally started offering free shipping and returns too! I remember seeing frilly mini skirts all over Japan last winter and they always seemed so feminine and fun. Glad I could finally find one that suits my style (and isn’t ridiculously short on my 5’9″ frame).
I saw this James Perse ruched dress in stores the other day and didn’t think much of it. I figured, “Eh, I’ll just try it on”. But the minute I put it on, it was like butter. James Perse is known to have super soft tanks and tees and this is no exception. It may not look like it, but it feels like you’re wearing your old college tee to work. Continue reading
Being surrounded by casually dressed engineers in California sometimes has it’s downside. I find myself getting “lazy” in my style choices and not always going for the more polished and professional look. Flats usually win over heels. Sometimes I wish the dress code were more like my friends who work in the financial districts of New York, but hey, the grass is always greener, right? Continue reading
With Spring here, I have been taking advantage of finally not having to wear pants to work. This Free People bodycon skirt has strategic lace panels on the front, back, and side and could easily be part of a boudoir collection. Since there is a lot of detail in the skirt, I kept the rest of the outfit simple with just a regular old slub T-shirt and some basic sandals.
