Feline Fine

Cat Cloak Cat Tights Velvet Skirt

Do you ever just have one of those weeks where you’re just in a funk? My week started off with food poisoning for 2 days, followed by yet another 3 month cancer check up the next day (which was all clear in case you’re wondering). But I think it’s always after the check up where I usually feel a bit down. Continue reading

One Year Later

Star Wars 10k 2017 - slave leia running outfit

This past weekend running the Star Wars 10k 2017!

There’s a lot to celebrate every day – some days more than others, but today especially because 1 year ago today, I finished my last chemo treatment. Some people say you’re “cancer free” after you have your surgery to remove it. Others feel like you’re not truly “cancer free” until you finish your last chemo treatment. For me, I’m a little more partial to the latter since chemo was the last aggressive effort to get rid of any wandering and potential cancer cells in my body. I definitely remember my last day of chemo – all the nurses clapped while I was leaving and they even gave me a “certificate of completion” that they had signed. I just smiled, waved goodbye as I left, and remembered how happy I was to get out of there!

Cosplay for a Cure 2016

han_insta16
When life gives you lemons, you cosplay! I started selling cosplay prints last year after being diagnosed and am going to continue the tradition of opening my store for the rest of this month. This year, all sales will go to the National Asian Breast Cancer Initiative as I was personally inspired by this post and wanted to help out. I will personally match all sales I get this month and on top of that, all prints are buy 2, get one free! Also, as I’m still adding some new prints, so please let me know what other prints you might like to see!

Good Motivators

Star Wars Droids Black White Dress

It’s crazy to think that exactly one year ago, my world was turned upside-down when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s still hard to even type that out today – in fact, sometimes it seems like a lifetime ago that I was dealing with all that stress. I was in total disbelief, felt so overwhelmed, and had no idea how I was going to take this on. Well, as you can see, I made it out A-OK and learned a lot about myself – one of the biggest things being that I am much stronger than I realize. I think that’s one thing that a lot of survivors will tell you – that this disease F’ing sucks and going through it is no piece of cake, but in the end, you come out so much mentally stronger than you were before.

Battle Souvenirs

Floral bomber souvenir jacket with vegan leather skirt

I never knew why these were called “Souvenir Jackets”, but apparently it’s because American soldiers in Japan started to embroider Asian symbols (like dragons, cherry blossoms, etc.) onto their jackets as “souvenirs” for their trip home after WWII. Regardless of their origin, I’ve been loving these bomber style jackets as a summer and fall trend and wearing one just made me wonder what would be my post-battle “souvenir” (or maybe more like “war wound” for me) since I just had my 6 month post chemo check-up? I mean, I have plenty of scars and enough bodily changes to remind me of what I went through but maybe my real “souvenir” will have to come later in the form of a tattoo? Maybe?? Hehe. So although my check up was fine, Continue reading

Face Forward

Anime Face Tee and Maxi Dress

I kind of wish I had gotten this tee at the time I first got my haircut because it’s pretty much the face I’ve been seeing every time someone sees my hair for the first time. I’m definitely getting really used to the cut and nowadays when someone says “OMFG YOU CUT YOUR HAIR!”, I just shrug and say, “Yup!” and then walk away. Heh. Although I’m not the biggest watcher of anime (my favorites are some oldies like Cowboy Bebop and Escaflowne), I thought this shirt from Pimp Chimp Apparel was so adorable, I couldn’t resist. Off the shoulder tops are all the rage right now and I decided this one would be perfect for a little DIY reconstruction. It only took 2 snips to modify this shirt and it was ready to wear on top of this maxi dress! So yeah, next time someone asks me about my hair, I’m just going to point to this shirt. >.<

Hair Story

41D07BC9-6CDA-4689-9516-5858C92577B0.jpgSo you may have noticed my new “do”. :) It’s been quite a roller coaster of emotions these past few weeks and I can’t say my hair journey has been easy – in fact, sometimes I wish I had just taken the straightforward path instead of making it so complicated! So, where do I start? Most people know that chemo causes hair loss. I have to admit that when I knew I would be going through chemo, I thought the hair loss was not a big deal. I thought, “Eh, I’ll wear a wig, and just cosplay as Asajj Ventress!” But as my first day of chemo approached and I sat there reading those breast cancer forums, I got the idea that  maybe, there was a way around the hair loss.
