About Me

Hi and thanks for checking out my blog!

My name is Emily. My mom had always thought that she was raising a boy because I started a Star Wars club in high school and had more comic book posters than teen heartthrobs on my walls. I think she thought I would grow out of collecting toys and playing video games, but fortunately for me I didn’t. Since then, I’ve taken my love for all things geeky to be a professional gamer and one of the original members of the Frag Dolls, work in various parts of the gaming industry, invest in new hobbies such as cosplaying, and even dabble in a bit of fashion design!

In between all of that, I sort of grew out of my tomboy phase and developed a passion for clothing and personal style. I think fashion is all about experimenting, being yourself, and loving what you’re wearing. And thanks to my mom who taught me how to sew, I think I have a huge appreciation for craftsmanship, quality, and design, which not only comes in handy when purchasing clothes, but also when it comes to creating my own cosplays.

Since starting this blog in 2012, I’ve seen a huge rise in geek fashion and I think it’s only going to get bigger. Gone are the days of buying gigantic geeky mens shirts and cutting them up (well, somewhat since once in a while, I still do that). I’m so excited to be a part of the world of geek fashion and can’t wait to see where it goes!

And for a quick rundown about my work and what I do, check out this short episode from Nerdist & Totino’s Adventure People!

  5. If only I was thirty years younger, this post would take a different path! Seriously you are one exceptionally beautiful woman with an interesting streak of creativity. Combine that with your geeky side, you become a powerhouse of femininity. Keep up the cosplay, it demonstrates some amazing creativity on your part.

  6. Hi Emily! I was trying to find a more direct way to reach you but couldn’t locate an email address. I’m contacting you regarding your Pinterest account :) Can we chat? Shoot me an email at dannahs@dobango.com. I look forward to hearing from you!

  7. Do you remember when they said boy groups would create unrealistic images of boys for girls and therefore make it so hard for boys to meet these expectations? Well, you do that to me. A female Han Solo, as if there was anything competing with that! So I guess I’ll end up lonely and longing for you! With all due respect. You’re the best!
