It’s amazing how a nearly 20 year old gaming console can make you so happy. Suddenly feeling nostalgic on a Sunday afternoon, I decided to break out my NES, complete with 7 whole games. A very sad and unimpressive collection, I know, but don’t judge a gamer by their gaming collection. Games were pretty expensive back then! I mean, can you believe I still paid almost $30 for Caveman Games in 1990?? But just like how I completed Tomb Raider for a mere $4 using Redbox, I played most of my games from borrowing or renting them at my local video store. After reading my monthly EGM, I would pick out a few games, rent one on a Friday and beat it by Sunday. I may not have played everything, but everything I played was memorable.
Being sick sometimes has it’s advantages. No one wants to be around you, you have a legit reason for not attending events, and better yet, you get to stay home in your PJs and catch up on video games. I have been looking forward to Tomb Raider (2013) ever since it was announced and having con-flu seemed like the perfect excuse to finally get started. Although I knew of Lara Croft, who is probably the most iconic female video character out there, I had surprisingly never played through any of the Tomb Raider games. However, this was probably a thing since I had no idea what to expect, except that I knew I would be going on an awesome adventure.
It’s been a while since I wore my Black Milk Star Wars Dress and honestly, I miss it! I guess it’s not every day I get to wear such a fun dress and sometimes you just need a fun outfit to pick you up. I recently read that you should actually dress for the mood you want to be in – so when you’re dreading a long work day, wear something fun to lighten your mood. Or maybe when it’s gray and depressing, wear something yellow or lime green to brighten up the day. For me, this dress definitely puts me in a good mood and could easily put my mind in a galaxy far, far away.
Greetings from San Diego Comic Con! Cosplaying as Han Solo was a blast and perfect for taking pics with other Star Wars characters. I found my BFF, good guys, some bad guys, and even my cross dressing counterpart! Here’s are the best of the best Star Wars adventures of Han Solo at Comic Con 2012. Enjoy!
Being a regular at E3 from 2004-2009, it’s crazy to see how much things have changed over the years. A “gamer” is no longer just your LAN party attending marathon gamer, but also your little sister who plays Dance Central on the Kinect. The gaming world is evolving. Even though the demographics of gamers is changing and bringing in a lot of casual games these days, it’s good to see some publishers stay true to the hardcore fans who just want their doses of action, adventure, a little RPG, and some good fun. Even though I didn’t get to go to E3, I felt like I was there in spirit, cheering and rolling my eyes with the rest of the fanboys.
And with that, here are some of the games I am super excited about!
So you’re going to a comic convention and don’t have a cosplay. What’s a girl to do? Grab your [insert comic, game, movie theme here] shirt, throw on some shorts, long socks, and a pair of converses and you have an outfit. That’s exactly what I did. This weekend was the Big Wow Comic Fest and I found myself with no time to make a cosplay. And instead of throwing on my typical Star Wars shirt, i decided to mix it up!
