When it comes to buying stuff at cons, especially San Diego Comic-Con, it’s all about lots of swag, exclusives, and cool merch, right?? Wrong!! For someone who already has way too much stuff and is constantly trying to declutter (keyword being “trying”), shopping at cons is such a challenge for me. As a collector, I want everything! But on the other hand, I’m trying to only buy stuff I really really love (suggests Mari Kondo). Even though I am a victim of having way too many geeky shirts, I did happen to pick up a few good ones at SDCC this year – one of my favorites being this trash panda one reminiscent of Nirvana’s classic smiley face band shirt. It definitely screams ’90s to me and of course any excuse to go ’90s grunge is a good one to me.
With Stan Lee Comic Con just around the corner and me being in “cosplay mode“, it just dawned on me over the weekend how close Halloween is! Not that I need an excuse to wear black, but I was definitely in the mood to pull out some black lace, black boots, and black knee highs. But to be honest, the real reason I wore this outfit was really to go with my bat print nails!! I’ve been using Espionage Cosmetics nail wraps for a couple years now and they have really become my go-to brand for nail art, given that these are nail stickers and much less toxic than nail polish, last way longer, and are mistake-free. Of course they have tons of great nerdy prints to choose from, but the best thing about these particular bat print wraps are that they glow in the dark!! Yes, you heard that right. How cool is that?? Halloween may be around the corner, but I know for a fact that I’ll be wearing these all year round!
Summer is just around the corner, which means lots of florals! I’ve been really addicted to black floral dresses lately, starting with this one from Free People. I know Free People clothes are generally seen as being incredibly bohemian, with styles you might think you can only wear to Coachella, but if you look closely, there are actually quite a lot of beautiful “normal” pieces as well! I’m a big fan of their dresses, especially their lace ones, and for some mysterious reasons, all of their dresses look great with boots, which is a huge plus for me. Do you guys have any favorite dress brands? I would love to know!
Perhaps I’ve been in the mood to wear preppy, uniform inspired clothing lately, but with Christmas just around the corner, I wanted to also share this amazing R2D2 tie that I picked up on my last trip to Disneyland. I knew I had to buy this (if not for my husband, then for myself) probably because I rarely see these type of accessories. If you’re still looking for the perfect gift for your Star Wars fan (guy or girl), then this might just be it. As for how to wear it? For the girls, forget about wearing this with a collared shirt and just go casual over a tee! And for the guys, pair it with your favorite Star Wars cuff links. Happy gift giving!
