Scott C’s GREATEST SHOWDOWNS!
Speaking of Scott Campbell’s amazing art, if you’re not familiar with his Famous Showdowns series, I’ve posted a few of my favorites. He has this geeky way of expressing all the movies I’ve ever loved as a kid and as a huge ’80s movies fan, I can’t get enough of his pop culture references. I think one of my favorites by far is the Raiders of the Lost Ark one. He really captured the crazy look on Toht’s face when they open the Ark.
Adventures in Babysitting – I always thought the girl’s viking hat was so cool! And the older brother was hot (for the 80s!).
I had never watched Army of Darkness until maybe 2003 and I could not get enough of the quotes.
“You found me beautiful once.”
“Honey, you got real ugly!”
Dark Crystal – Just recently re-watched this and still found it incredibly creepy and awesome. Jim Henson is a genius.
Kim Cattrall at her hottest. I can never get enough of the theme song. “And we can build this dream together… nothin’s gonna stop us now..”
Never Ending Story – what kid didn’t want to ride the big white fluffy dog/dragon?
Ah, Officespace, a nerd classic.
Princess Bride – when Cary Elwes was still handsome. “As you wiiiiiish!!” (while rolling down the hill)
Roman Holiday – so appropriate that this is done in black and white too! I guess you can showdown with the Mouth of Truth??
Singing in the Rain – by far, my favorite musical. I grew up on this stuff and never got tired of this movie.
