Wondercon 2013 Recap and Photos Extraordinaire!

Wondercon 2013 Nathan Drake CosplayAnother Wondercon has come and gone and like most big cons, it’s always a little sad when it’s over. Yup, back to reality and my mundane life where I can’t cosplay for 6 hours a day. But it was still a great time and nice to go to a con that had many of the booths of SDCC, but not the overwhelming crowds. As for panels, I was probably the most excited about the Day 2 Adventure Time panel even though I had no idea who was going to be there. As it turned out, even though bigger stars like Pen Ward or voices of Finn and Jake weren’t there, there were some key writers, producers, and the voice of Flame Princess and BMO/Lady Rainicorn there, which made it equally as entertaining. Not only did we get to see hilarious clips and storyboards from a few upcoming episodes, but we all got awesome poster swag!

As for Day 3, I was pretty concerned about lining up for Joss Whedon’s panel only 2 hours before the start, but it was incredibly refreshing that in reality you could just show up 10 minutes before the panel and still get a seat! I didn’t know much about Joss Whedon’s new movie Much Ado About Nothing beforehand, but now that I’ve seen the clips, I have to say it not only looks funny, but is also beautifully shot. I’m still pretty bummed that Nathan Fillion had “issues” and couldn’t show up at the last minute, but I guess we’ll forgive him. And I haven’t laughed as hard at a panel as I did for Chris Hardwick’s Nerdist panel. With all of his projects and crazy energy, I swear, he seriously does not seem like he sleeps.

I had a great time at Wondercon and especially Anaheim in general (since I am now a Disneyland annual passholder – YEAH!!!). If you’re already wondering about next year, Comic-Con says they’re bringing Wondercon back to SF and also starting a new Wondercon Anaheim tradition! Woah, TWO WONDERCONS?! Can’t wait! Till next year and on with the pictures!
