Into the Trenches

Trench Coat Vest with Shorts and Suspender Tights

As I enjoy this time before my 4th and last chemo treatment next week, I’m faced with not only excitement, but also many worries and fears about my future. It may seem like things are finally “over”, but there’s still a laundry list of things I’ll need to deal with such as hormone treatments, residual side effects such as fatigue, and overall just trying to feel like myself again. I met with the doctor this week and went in thinking this would be an easy visit and that he would congratulate me on almost being done. Instead, I was asked a series of questions about the next steps in my treatment and left the office feeling more stressed than I needed to be.

It’s definitely days like this that make it hard for me think positively. I had a good cry on the  car ride home and decided after that to do something about it. Blogging has really been therapeutic for me during this time, especially on days where I need major boost to my morale. Somehow just putting on a fun outfit, running some fabric through my sewing machine, playing videos games, or painting stormtrooper helmets gives me so much positive energy. So thank you for giving me this outlet to vent, express my creativity, and just feel normal again. People always comment that I seem so “strong” and “brave”, but really, I feel like there’s not much else you can do at this point besides pick your head up and just keep going.

When I found your blog, I was having a fashion vs geekery fight inside of me, and so looking at your outfits really helped me come to terms with the fact that I love both things fashion and geeky! And I embraced my style so much, and continue to feel inspired by what you do and conquer.

I didn’t get a chance to meet you at the SDCC last year but I admired your Rey cosplay from afar (I was in line for the racer when you walked by) and certainly hope to get to meet you soon.
In the meantime, I just wanted to let you know that you have inspired me big time, to embrace my geeky style and that you have a fan in Tijuana, Mexico.

Stay awesome, I send the best wishes, vibes and lots of hugs to you!

I can’t even imagine the stress you’re under or how hard this must be for you, but I am glad you are almost done with chemo. You ARE amazing, and you are an inspiration. I am glad your costumes and writing have provided an outlet. I, for one, look forward to your updates and hearing how you’re doing, and for your latest fashion shoots; your costumes are amazing. I am rooting for you. I know you can beat this.

you truly are incredible. Im so proud of you and happy for you for being on your last round of chemo! you’re doing great! keep your head up and keep being yourself.
I went through chemo at the beginning of this year as a treatment for my lupus. I know I cant claim to know exactly what you’re going through, but I have been there in a sense. so never forget that you’re not alone. you’ve got a whole support network on here for you :)

    praying always!
Stay strong and may the Force be with you!

Hi, I’ve been admiring your work for awhile and just wanted to wish you the best and hope everything goes well with your treatment. I know it must be a very scary thing to go through, but you seem to be handling it as well as anyone could, and I’m sure will make it out to the other side stronger than ever. : )

So glad that you have to survive breast cancer through four rounds of chemo treatment. You’re the very one to stay strong, and very glad at the moment that even you’re wearing wigs, your hair will be growing back in no time at all even after the chemo treatments. Very soon that your fight against breast cancer is even stronger than other cancers that are too incurable. Thank you for having your encouragement spread the whole world and someday people are finally cancer-free in no time without the said disease.
